Thomson-East Coast MRT will have 7 new stations by 23 Jun 24

TEL users can save up to half their travel time with the seven new TEL station.
TEL allows residents of Marine Parade who wish to travel Shenton Way to do so in just 20 minutes as opposed to 40 minutes by bus or train.
From Woodlands North to Bayshore, around 235,000 houses will be within walking distance of an existing TEL.
Punggol Coast Station on the North-East Line Expansion is also expected to be open by the end. This station will allow convenient access to both the Singapore Institute of Technology Punggolcampus, which will open this summer, and the upcoming Punggol Digital District.
Hume Station, on the Downtown Line DTL is scheduled to open by 2025 and improve access to the Rail Corridor Central.
Bedok South and Sungei Bedok Interchange, as well as Xilin, are scheduled to open in the year 2026 when the Stage 5 of TEL and DTL Extension Projects is completed. East Coast Integrated Depot with its tunnels and viaducts linking TEL, DTL, and East-West Line is also scheduled to open in the year 2026.
announced these projects will be opened in 2025.
In 2026, there will be three more Circle Line stations. Keppel Cantonment and Prince Edward will “close” the loop between HarbourFront Station and Marina Bay.
For these integration works, one platform will be closed at HarbourFront and Telok Blangah stations until the end of May.
Bukit Panjang will resume running its LRT dual loops on Saturdays, from 11am-1pm and from 5pm-7pm.
The system has operated in one loop since December 1, 2019 to allow for renovation work.
LTA announced that it will monitor the network performance to decide whether it needs to be expanded to cover additional off-peak hours. During weekday mornings or evenings, full dual-loop services will still be available.
Two new trains are also expected to enter passenger service for the Bukit panjang LRT in the third-quarter of 2024. This is one of 19 new trains that will replace first-generation vehicles in service since 1999.
In tandem with a newly developed communications-based system of train control and signalling, second-generation trains are undergoing upgrades. In the latter part of this year, more trains will be upgraded and returned to passenger service.
Bukit Pantjang LRT service will be terminated one hour earlier, at 10.30pm, on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings, between Mar 22 and Jun 30.
During this time, commuters are able to take the following bus services after 10:30pm: 67,171, 920M, 972M 973M 974 and 976. These buses serve Bukit Panjang and Choa Chu Kang areas.
LTA announced that, for the Sengkang Punggol LRT line, the LTA will begin work this month to improve the flow of commuters on the Sengkang LRT platform, and create dedicated stopping areas for each route plying the station.
New signs and queue markings will be installed at the station, along with a new tactile system for boarding and disembarking.
By the end of this year, the first 25 of the new two-car Sengkang Punggol LRT trains are expected to arrive. These will gradually be put into service for passengers after they have been tested. These new trains are expected to eventually replace some existing two and one-car trains.
We are on course to achieve our goal of increasing the rail network from about 360km to around 480km by 2030, with 8/10 households being within 10 minutes walking distance of a railway station.
The updated regulations will apply to taxis and private hire cars. This will ensure relevancy, as tighter regulatory requirements translates into higher operating costs for taxi drivers and higher rental prices for taxi operators.
In the future, taxis that are less than 3 years old, will only be inspected every year. Currently, they’re only inspected every 6 months.
In contrast, cars that are more than 10 year old and used for private hire will only need to be checked every six month, rather than the current once-a-year inspection.
The current eight-year statutory lifetime of taxis powered by diesel, petrol or hybrids will now be extended to ten years.
Taxi operators with a lower utilisation rate will also be exempted from providing call-booking service, “due to the high costs”.
ComfortDelGro continues to provide these services.
In order to minimize service disruptions, the authorities will also introduce standard baselines for P2P platforms.
The operators must inform the LTA, drivers and commuters within one hour of confirmation of an “incident systemic” that may affect P2P service. After confirming the “systemic incident”, operators are required to submit a report detailing measures taken in order to resolve it.
Operators are also required to develop and review their contingency plan regularly in order to ensure that service is restored quickly and any systemic incidents are minimized.

Due to the fact that drivers and commuters may rely heavily on P2P, the notice period for operators who intend to exit the marketplace will be doubled. Operators are required to notify the LTA at least 120 calendar days prior to surrendering their licence. This is an increase from the current 60-day period.
It is required that they inform the public 60 days prior to surrendering their license.
The authorities will work with operators in order to enhance the booking platform, which will allow commuters to more easily indicate whether they need a vehicle with enough space to accommodate a wheelchair that folds up or a child’s seat.
Booking platforms should also state if such services are unavailable so that commuters requiring them can cancel the original booking and place a new one.
